Removal of starter motor of Fiat Punto

1 Disconnect the battery negative terminal.
2 Firmly apply the handbrake, then jack up the front of the car and support it securely on axle stands.
3 Remove the air cleaner assembly.
4 Unscrew and remove the starter motor upper mounting bolt located at the top of the transmission bellhousing (see Illustration).

5 From under the car, raise the plastic cover over the starter solenoid wiring terminals (see illustration).

6 Unscrew the two nuts and disconnect the wiring from the solenoid terminal studs (see illustration).

7 Unscrew the lower mounting bolt(s), then withdraw the starter motor of Fiat Punto from the transmission (see illustration).

8 Refitting is a reversal of removal.
